OEPI is in a partnership with Pré Consultants, makers of Sima Pro, the leading LCA software tool. We are collaborating on a technical approach that uses our ontology to incorporate EPIs, calcualted within Sima Pro, into the OEPI system to be further used in various network-based scenarios. This work is based on the premise that OEPI does not aim to replace existing solutions, but rather build on them by providing functioanlity that can only be achieved in a many-to-many system. When this research task concludes, we will have a proof of concept in which a company uses Sima Pro to calculate certain EPIs of a specific product, we incorproate them in our system, and the user continues using these EPIs in OEPI, for example to include them as a component in a more complex product, to compare it to alternative products on the network, or benchmark it with all products of the same category.
